Mission

The mission of Every Birthday Matters is to provide birthday parties to foster children and homeless children living in group homes in Florida's Suncoast Region so they can experience the joy that comes with celebrating their special day. We will fulfill this mission by providing these parties at no cost to the facility, child, or family through donations from the local community and careful planning and implementation by volunteers.

History

Every Birthday Matters was founded in May 2012 by Amber Elrom in an effort to provide needy children with the joy of celebrating their birthdays with a special party.

Charitable Concept

A birthday is a very important event in a child's life, one that builds self-esteem and fosters a sense of normalcy. Most children living in group homes and shelters do not have the funding and/or family resources for a birthday celebration. Every Birthday Matters would provide this momentous event at the housing location at no cost to the child or facility.

The children celebrating their birthday that month will receive a personalized button to wear on their shirts the whole day announcing "My Birthday Matters". Each birthday party will include time to visit, a craft project, and then an activity for all of the children. That will be followed by cake, ice cream, and drinks as well as a goody bag for each child. The birthday children will receive a commemorative frame with a Polaroid of themselves at the party to have as a keepsake of their very own birthday celebration.
